Git pull puts page into 'HTTP ERROR 500' state

I don't know is it intentional, but I think it wasn't like this before. Tried to update my installs (v8.3.0 and v8.3.1) to latest release and both showed HTTP ERROR 500 after git pull. Everything works again after php upgrade.php

That looks like a web server error, not one of ours, so I'm not sure what to advise here tbh. You can check the web server logs (not the app log, the actual web server's logs, and the php logs) and see if anything interesting pops up there.
