Snowpack vs alternatives

https://vitejs.dev/ and https://github.com/preactjs/wmr have some similarities to Snowpack. Would they fit better?

some potential factors:

• easier setup for dependencies?
• more mature bundler, but still much faster than webpack/rollup? see IE11 not working #8
• ability to disable the localhost server, since served through WP - not a big deal since doesn't really hurt anything. also used in some workflows, see 6ac10fa
• hmr + react fast refresh out of the box? see Add hot module reloading as progressive enhancement #3 - fixed in 6ac10fa

Also, if there's a way to use the actual watch task for watching. Right now our watch task is actually calling Snowpack's build --watch --hmr, which is relatively slow (although still much faster than webpack.
