Compiling with avx2 support?

Is there a specific way to compile Dosbox-X in linux with avx2 support? Someone just suggested using this as a fix for a problem I'm having, but it's not clear to me whether Dosbox-X supports avx2 by default or whether specific instructions need to be used when compiling. I've tried using -mavx2 but that does not seem to be an acceptable option. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
