Full blown keyboard capture like VIrtualbox

Hi,

i like Dosbox-X very much, what i like is playing around with old dosware but also with windowsware and other systems like geos, i like that it emulates that much better then virtualbox wich is working horrible with everything older then w2k. What i dont like is the behavior in windows (under linux it works fine somehow) not all possible key-combinations are captured and relayed to the vm, i know you cant do ctrl+alt+delete but thinks like alt+tab dont work to (even with caputred mouse or in fullscreen mode) which seams to be no problem for virtualbox and other virtualisation tools...

What you want

have a look on how they do it and implement it also for dosbox-X so i can freely alt+tab through my win3.x and 9x windows with ease as i like it. You could just bind keypoad caputer to mouse capture like vbox dose it so i can escape with crtl+10 ;)

I have similar experience... (AltGr+N - doesn't show character from DOS keyboard layout, because on the host windows there's a Ctrl+Alt+N keyboard shortcut to launch an application?)
I was looking for a slightly different solution: #3636, but your request is also interesting!

Is this on Windows 11? Ever since Windows 11 came out DOSBox-X keyboard/mouse capture has also been unable to handle the Start or Windows key as well.

I also would like to request full keyboard capture, I'm using macOS 11 and on macOS, the Ctrl+arrow keys activate the macOS Mission Control feature or the macOS Spaces switching feature. A lot of Windows games use Ctrl+arrow keys, so this is sometimes annoying.

VirtualBox implements full keyboard capture on macOS 11 (tested with VirtualBox 7.1.8), you just have to make sure that the arrow icon in the bottom right is green.

VMware Fusion for macOS also has full keyboard capture (uncheck all the boxes in the main Keyboard & Mouse preferences with the default profile, and set the individual VM settings to use the default keyboard profile)

I've wanted this for some time too, and DOSBox Staging slipped it in there earlier this year (https://github.com/dosbox-staging/dosbox-staging/pull/4338/files). I've taken a stab at it in #5934.
