[PeoplePicker] Different group with similar name is getting selected on default selected

I am using the People Picker control from @pnp/spfx-controls-react.
There is an API being posted internally "/_api/SP.UI.ApplicationPages.ClientPeoplePickerWebServiceInterface.clientPeoplePickerSearchUser".
When I pass the name of a group, it returns results from a different group with a similar name — not the exact one I specified.
