Requirements Specification Document

Hi, I just wanted to check whether a Requirements Specification Document already exists for this project. If not, I will be more than happy to create it

There is no requirement specification document.
Though I wonder, what you want to put in there and to what goal ?

A requirements document serves as an agreement between developers and customers on the application’s functionality.
It helps define the project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment and minimizing potential misunderstandings down the line.

txs is a well established project which is basically in maintenance mode.
Development model is completely open source by volunteers, so kind of agile development with the caveat that what is developed is what the author is currently interested in.

So, the customer is the developer typically (because they want to improve something they like) and there are no defined deliverables, no external defined objectives etc.

So, I don't see what benefit a requirement spec is bringing.
What is the background of the proposal in the first place ?

It is not about enforcing requirements but to improve communication and sustainability.
It could help newcomers understand project goals and priorities and clarify what is for maintenance vs new features.
The proposal came from an interest in how open source projects benefit from documentation practices.

open source in general and txs can benefit from some documentation.
But I fail to see the benefit of requirement specs. That is basically another level between conception and implementation and takes away from the actual work.
