Is localization and react native supported?

Hellow, does plate js support localization(to translate UI into other languages) and implementation in react native with webview?

Plate's UI is fully customisable, so you should be able to localise it at your convenience.

Plate is based on slate-react, which is a web text editor. For integration into mobile apps, I recommend using embedded web views.

Thanks for the answer. But I would like to know 2 things in more detail:

1.) It turns out that to localize into another language you need to change the Plate js source code, replace the English words with another language. Or does it work differently?

2.) Is there any successful use of plate js with react native web view in practice? Have you tried this? And does this have any limitations than using in browser with react js

1. Plate UI is entirely based on copy/paste. No lib. So you manage the language.

@zbeyens but do you think it would be possible to add an internalization/localization feature/plugin to Plate UI?

Right now, I am searching for every string in the code base, add it to a dictionary and replace the string through a dynamic variable using react i18n.

I am sure, I am not the only person who is doing that, so I think, it would be a cool feature to add that. Probably users could choose between ui-components in English as default or a theme including dynamic variables for ui strings.

I understand that this would create some maintenance burden. But probably one could find a smart way to minimize that effort?

That makes sense, but we're closely following shadcn/ui patterns. I think the best place to support i18n is in shadcn CLI. Until then, LLMs should be fast at doing that.
