Maintenance Status and Support for New React Native Architecture

Hi,

There have been no updates or communication about support for the new React Native architecture. The library currently supports only up to React Native 0.73, but many users need compatibility with Expo 53, which requires React Native 0.79 or higher.

Can the maintainers clarify if this project is still actively maintained and if there are plans to support the new architecture and newer React Native versions?

If not, could the community recommend alternative UI libraries with similar features that support the latest React Native versions?

They are working on it on branch v8 and there is a note in the readme.md

Hello,

We have a version that supports new-arch (RN77), you can use the next tag for now.
Please make sure to go over the v8 doc, it includes breaking changes and some known issues.

Edit: First tests in android emulator look really good. New Dialog implementation is missing the old default width of 90% it seems.
Dialog direction={null} breaks the Dialog (dialog not visible but background is). Which is Okay I guess because it was no valid value. I used this to disable the panning if I remember correctly.

Yes, the new default is width: 250 but you can override it of course.
Yes, null was previously used for removing pan, I can look in to that but no promises about re-adding it.
