A number of networking test/samples show this issue (not specific SDK 0.15.0, but native posix on fedora with gcc-12.x):

The warning looks very cryptic and makes zero sense to me ... (maybe a GCC bug?)

So far, I have been unable to reproduce this using the GCC 12.1 included in the Zephyr SDK 0.15.0-rc1.

I was able to reproduce this on native_posix by installing GCC 12.1 from source locally (I'm still on Ubuntu 20.04 which comes with GCC 9.4).

Will fix these native_posix-specific issues later.

another false positive.

ctrl2_ois is always initialised when aux_ctx != NULL and it is accessed if and only if aux_ctx != NULL, so ctrl2_ois is never uninitialised when it is accessed.

This happens because -march is specified twice, where the latter is -march=rv32imc (i.e. missing Zicsr).

This was caused by the compiler analysing the assertion failure execution path, because the assert() maps to __ASSERT_NO_MSG() (when the minimal libc is selected), which does not indicate that the function does not return in case of an assertion failure.

Fixed by zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr#48710

just looking at the error messages, we probably just need to disable these warnings around these code fragments. Any concern about doing that? I'll look at using the new SDK on upstream picolibc testing and see how that goes.

PR to picolibc is picolibc/picolibc#316 -- this uses the same mechanism as on meson -- -fno-builtin-malloc -fno-builtin-free.

When that gets merged upstream, I'll move the zephyr hash to include that fix.

This sample only gets stuck when compiled with -Os (optimise for size), which is the default setting. When compiled with -Og (optimise for debugging; i.e. with less optimisation), it works.

The problem is likely related to the compiler optimising out something that it should not have.

setup.sh fails on SUSE Leap 15.4. $OSTYPE=linux not linux-gnu. Changing line 188 to linux*) worked.
