There is a river discharge dataset tied to the Global Flood Awareness System (GloFAS) that is preferable for some regional ocean model applications because it is high resolution (1/20°). Note that the data set only contains discharge rates north of 60° S.
There are a few outstanding tasks before this PR is ready to merge:
