@ancaantochi, I tried to reach out elsewhere to discuss this but this is fine. I saw this PR earlier and should have commented immediately (sorry!). My take on this is that these bindings should be deprecated. To me, it doesn't seem unreasonable to ask users to use wit-bindgen to generate the right Rust code from the latest WIT snapshot; this was not true in the past, where generating the right Rust from WITX was more cumbersome. And wit-bindgen seems like the right answer for other languages as well. But not everyone agrees, so I have kept this open: I opened the topic of deprecating this repository in the past and had a few voices ask to keep it.

Do you have a strong opinion either way? I can of course review and merge this, but there are other issues lurking under the surface to be fixed:

  • fix failing CI tasks
  • remove the now-unused AssemblyScript bindings
  • update the examples
  • etc.
