What changes are proposed in this pull request?

In kernel, we do a lot of custom handling for our metadata schema. metadata projection pushdown is entirely hand-written.

This explores:

  • What if we represented operation in a way that can have automated projection pushdown
  • Can we represent our APIs so that we minimize the amount of visitor boilerplate?
