Adding most of the same things that we have in cloudcasting, and removing some of the unused files, as well as putting train.py in the root of the repo.

Just did this with some free time, if it's not that useful, we can do it differently!

FYI: CI won't pass on this since there are some formatting things to fix still. Happy to look at those!

Hi!

My name is Niccolò, I'm a PhD student in AI and new to contributing to open source projects.
I wanted to contribute with this PR, I wanted to know if theres something more i should know (or be carefull about) or if there are any differences since the PR was opened.

Thanks

hi @nick-cc99! great that you're looking to make some open source contributions.

i'm not sure if you found this repo by chance or if you have some association with the authors, but in general, if you're just looking for some experience, i would shoot for projects that clearly have a few active maintainers and a community to ask for help (e.g. matplotlib), or maybe a library that you use!

i'd also start with issues instead of PRs -- this is work that i've basically finished, and i think that you'd have more success solving a problem from scratch with the guidance of the maintainers. I would take the time to think about the problem first by yourself, and ask specific questions! you probably won't get responses from a generic "Hi i'd like to help, what can i do?" It's a lot of work for someone to explain that, and they could solve the problem themselves in that time.

hopefully this helps, good luck on your OSS journey!

Hi @phinate thank you so much for the reply!

I actually found the project through Google Summer of Code, it interested me and I thought it’d be a great opportunity to start contributing and learning.
I understand your point about starting with issues, but I've noticed there aren't any currently open, so I’m getting familiar with the code. Hopefully that’ll help me understand things better and eventually open a PR myself.

Thanks again for the guidance!
Best,
Niccolò
