Solution:
Change
git -Ctogit --git-dir /path/to/gitdir --work-tree /path/to/worktree.gitdiris the directory containing.gitor the value of$GIT_DIRenv.worktreeis the value of$GIT_WORK_TREEenv or the parent directory ofgitdir.I've been using git bare repo to manage my dot files for years and it works very well in my bare repo.
