Fix issue 2618 - Remove browserify in favor of esbuild

Purpose (TL;DR) - mandatory

Fix issue #2618 by switching to esbuild.
I don't have much experience with esbuild, and tried to make only the required minimal changes.

How to verify - mandatory

1. Check out this branch
2. npm install
3. npm run build
4. npm run test

Checklist for author

• npm run lint passes
• References to standard library functions are cached.
