This has been tested on GHC 7.4.1 through GHC 7.8.3 (GHC 7.2.x which was never considered a proper stable release lacks the `CapiFFI` extension)

I haven't merged this because I didn't want to cut off GHC <7.4 support yet. Maybe it's time? |

Yeah, I'd say it's quite reasonable to ditch support for <7.4 now. |
