@lorenzo-ange, what if you use the following set attributes:
set -eto exit on the first error.set -xto show each command before executing it.
This would avoiding multiple calls to the exit_on_error.

with this fix, if compilation steps fails, the compile initContainer exits with the error code to inform kubernetes that something went wrong.
